Never occurred to me that I might want to fire a weapon out of the back of any VW buses that I have owned. What would you enjoy killing from the rear of a bus?

The best part in the movie is when they "rolled down" the rear window and started shooting out of it. I want that option on my buses.

If you want an air cooled bus or van that you can roll down the rear windows, you can do that with the Corvair vans. The gunsmoke clears out much quicker than with pop outs Smile

that should be the recipe for staging "vintage photos". another old car of a different brand, some old dude in a suit, and some goober looking out of the bus. Perfection

Agreed. There is just so much good all around. Love the redwood pattern on the former garage door, too. It all just works.

Love the pinstriping or is that a reflection?

Caption states "Cecil painting the rack on his Barndoor in April 1969 in San Diego."
I can't tell if this is a barndoor or not it has some strange features. The front roof looks weird. The side view mirrors are mounted at the top of the door frame or the roof. Aftermarket?

Strange photo. Looks like there may be some sort of shelf thing hanging over the front windows? Really hard to tell what is happening there.

Probably not a "barndoor" with those wiper divots.

Yes, large front door handle indents, later bumper, bullet signals

I'm calling ribbed bumper Kombi but not a Barndoor

The Dove Blue in this photo looks super blue to me, more "Dove Blue" than original paint Buses I've seen, if you know what I mean.

Interesting that the hubcap logos appear to be Dove Blue too since it looks to me like it has the mid-57-61 dollar taillights but the hubcaps in body color stopped in 9/1956

I was thinking the same thing, but maybe the odd angle and the fence behind it is making a reflector look like a taillight?

Sure does. All kombi buses of that era had pinstripes from the factory.
