original photo looks too hilly/mountainous for sylt - more like an alpine motorrail

Probably either of the loading stations on the Loetschberg Line car-train in southern Switzerland which passes through the 9-mile long tunnel: the northern station in the village of Kandersteg which tends to be the more photographed location, or the southern station in Goppenstein. The Kandersteg station has at least 9 train tracks next to the car loading platform in its much wider valley. Those are not evident in the photos above, so that it would be the station at Goppenstein which has only a few tracks. Here's a shot of the Kandersteg loading station from the Charles Bronson movie "Love and Bullets" in my gallery; these tracks do not match the photos above. |

that photo is awesome, look how he (or someone) built a wider and longer bed platform and bolted the gates back on... just enough room for the race car!
hard to tell what it is, but looks like maybe a Cooper or something similar? _________________ drive your split. |

Great picture indeed, I wonder how the power is with that exhaust pipe kinked over though? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I remember a photo of Beetle drag racer Jim Sibley's car transporter SC pickup from an early to mid-1970's HotVWs magazine coverage of a drag racing event. He was from Washington state. Had a similar extended bed/track ramps so the Beetle would fit on it, wide rear wheels, and a 911 engine! I made a quick internet search of the pickup but did not find anything. |
