Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere in the forum, but I thought I'd let people know about the wipers I recently picked up for my bus. They are vintage style, made by ANCO, look period correct on a bus, and best of all they actually wipe, unlike the Chinese repro style available these days.
The arms are part # 41-01, and are made in the US.
The blades are part # 20-12, and are made in Mexico.
I ordered mine from RockAuto, but they seem to be available from a number of different places. |

I didn't find the arm (anywhere). Have a link.
Looks like you have to use that arm with the blade... can't use original bus arm/base.
Wiper looks Ghia-ish... but, maybe 'classic car'-esque.

Arms are available from Rock Auto, and I believe Amazon, and Summit Racing. I have a couple of 50s American trucks here that have very similar (original) arms and blades. |

Those are the ones. Although not "correct", I live where it rains almost every day, so having wipers that actually work is pretty important to me. Unless you have a source of OG arms and blades, the Chinese ones available these days are terrible quality in every way, and other than "looking" right, don't actually do much useful. |

The "spring" type (as opposed to the "flat" OG type) that I had deteriorated really quickly. Maybe I just got a bad set. _________________ "A rolling bus gathers no rust." |

I guess I'll have to see how these do. The actual rubbers are replaceable, which is nice. |

I'm hearing you. I had been using old stock SWF blades until recently they were worn out on the kombi and I installed a new pair of aftermarket blades about a month ago. The new ones I used that look correct just are poor quality in comparison. The wipe is all streaky. It is not a smooth clean wipe.
We have been getting a lot of rain recently too. Feb was almost double normal for the month, and March is soggy too. We've had 9.4 inches this month so far, the average is 5.3 inches. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |
