|
|
A moderator site request:
We can move threads.
We can edit threads.
We can delete posts from threads.
We can not append one thread to another.
With so many threads having similar information, it would be good to be able to string threads together.
Reason is, locking a thread and adding redirect information is a royal pita.
Also, deleting threads loses information.
Can an append function be added, please?
(NOTE: I realize nobody knows what I am talking about, but it is a known issue to some and is very site related. Plus I would like the user base to see we have some behind the scenes issues too.) _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

I recognize that I have zero cred over here...but merge is a very useful feature, and can be used in lieu of either closing or deleting threads. It helps to keep relevant data within a common "thread" of topical discussion, and it generally doesn't piss off the locals like the aforementioned methods.
Perhaps a forum feature request thread should be started...but of course if there already is one in place, we could append it with this one.
How about a "when's the next software update" thread? _________________ Casey--

There are no immediate plans and I have no target date for when I can upgrade.
I have done a number of upgrade and rewrites that cannot be transferred without a rewrite of those add-ons.
I agree Merge is a useful tool.
There may be some confusion from the posts above - We rarely delete entire threads. Individual posts - yes. _________________ How to Post Photos

Since we're on the topic of what features mods have available to them, can they alter thread titles, and in specific fix typos? I have many many pet peeves, but typos in title is one of the biggies _________________ Casey--

I do update titles from time to time too.
I rarely fix individual post content.
I do NOT have the time to be the grammar police also.
Sometimes I see I make a small typo and just let it ride......

I was referring to the thread titles. I mentioned this, because it has a direct impact on the searches, which are already hampered by ancient technology _________________ Casey--

It's one of my peeves as well and I fix any that I come across. I also try to change vague titles to something with more descriptive substance. _________________ ~Kamz

Can someone please fix the "frakenmotor" thread title? Can't say why, but that one's like freakin' nails on a chalkboard to me _________________ Casey--

Please hit report on threads or posts that need attention.
Or PM the moderator of that section.
I believe I found the thread you mean and repaired the spelling. _________________ How to Post Photos

There is a chance this is actually a pun.
A play on the recent word: frak. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frak_%28expletive%29 _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!
