My girlfriend snapped this pic of a DOKA on a flatbed going down the 405 fwy in Torrance, CA. She and I both would like to know what it is? Looks like a utility compartment of some sort, but I dunno...Thanks _________________

I actually think this one was recently for sale? I remember either an ad or thread about it. _________________ 1986 Canadian Syncro Westy TDI - 1989 Syncro Single Cab - 2001 Audi S4 - 1981 VW Caddy ABA - 1980 VW Caddy EV - 1973 VW T-181 |

License plate was NON-US...May have been coming out of the Port of Los Angeles or Long Beach which isn't far from where this was taken. I'm guessing it's actually a Syncro-DOKA? Thanks... _________________

Oh, it finally landed and cleared customs. It it heading up to OR IIRC, a friend of AA trans bought it.
Not a syncro 16 but was priced similarly.
The rear NATO canopy style top is designed like many european overlanders like to have their MAN or Unimogs styled. |

According to the ads it is an original 16" with lengthened wheel arches to accomodate bigger tires. _________________ 88 Westfalia Club Joker syncro AAZ i/c

Isn't that Mike's (Busman.be) Otigger powered 6cylinder syncro 16 doka?
VERY rare.
I'm pretty sure that is. It was for sale on his site in belgium/germany (I think) a while ago. |

No, it's not Plompen's. I do hope we see it at Mogfest. _________________ Vanagon/Transporter flares here: www.terrawagen.com

From the photo, it's Russell's (ex part owner of Syncro-Nutz) Syncro 16 Doka which he recently sold to someone in U.S.
From memory, an upright 1.9 TDI engine conversion, home brewed rear canopy, jacked up a bit with 245-75-16 tyres, unless he changed the spec.
Russell has built and sold several Syncro 16s now but seems to prefer to remove the wheel arches.

As far as I know those are 235/85r16 that's why he had to extend the wheel arches... |
