Just bought my fourth Westfalia, a 1990.
30k on Tiico Audi 2.0 gas conversion.
Has a CARB sticker, so it's smog legal in CA.

I see a lot of 85-87 westies, but not many 1990or 1991's

How many of the last years models were imported to US?
1990
1991

Prior to this: (it's a sickness)
1987 Westfalia, white all options. Like new. Sold it.
1987 Syncro Westfalia, bought@7K miles, Perfect! but sadly, sold it.
1976 Westfalia, built engine w weber carbs. FUN (not CA smog legal)
1974 Westfalia - learning curve, not the best one by far.

You can do a little math to figure out total production by year here:

That is interesting for total production, but it would be more interesting to see how many multivans there were and how many westies. Everyone says how rare the multivans are and I'd like to know how rare they really are.

^^^ ...and I'd also like to know how truly rare syncro westies are. Anybody have a more definitive figure other than "lots"?

I remember reading somewhere that the total number of Syncro Westies is about 1450.

The total number of Syncros of all types (LHD, RHD, single cab, double cab, panel, 16", etc.) is 43,468.

Fairly rare by anyones book!
