Speaking of fasteners... did some years use one of the screws as a grounding point? I vagely remember seeing one with a tab for a ground wire, but I can't find it now.

Yes, it was the grounding point for the low/ hi beam system.

This '67 fuse block that Ning is bringing you this PM does have a grounding lug on one mount.

P.S. Cars have been known to teach you humility! Confused

I have half a mind to make Oregon my next assignment and bother you guys, but unfortunately, there aren't any active duty DoD bases there. What's up with that?

I searched USAJobs and the only computer position is in Portland with a NOAA weather station. Not my area, so you're safe for now!

I got my car back with fresh generator/Temp Sensor/NOS fuel injection harness/spark plug insert/'72 beam/front brake pads/windshield/rubber etc. I guess they had to lower it 2 splines to get it to sit correct. It is running good and steers like a go kart again!

Tram futzed with the kickdown switch, but I had to pull the fuse again to actually get it to shift right as Borg-Warner intended. Twisted Evil

Tram did not futz with the kickdown switch, my very good friend! In fact, that's one of the few things I didn't have to futz with! Laughing Something's up. Didn't do that on a road test for me. You also got a rear wheel cylinder in the deal and your good fusebox installed. Glad it's running well, but would like to check out that kickdown deal before you go to Cali. You might need it in the passes.

My generator light came on while I was downtown, so I hurried out to Tram's! He massaged the brushes and commutator and the light went out. He loaned me his NOS generator for my trip to Redding, CA tomorrow just in case.

It turns out he had one kickdown switch wire on the WRONG terminal. Exclamation It does seem to be working real well now hooked up copasetic! Cool

I don't think I did it, but when you're on painkillers... Laughing

The hell of it is with your gen. is that the commutator got dirty again so fast. At least you'll have the "loaner" if you need it. Lucky for you the project it was earmarked for is getting an alternator instead.

Oh to be in an area of the country where Type 3 parts are there for the taking... must be nice!

We had to drive the last 200 miles down with the generator light on, but made it to Redding. Bought new brushes at Wolfgang International, but they didn't help! My buddy gave me a portable jump starter/compressor unit when I stopped at his Car Lot with the generator light on. Laughing I installed Tram's generator the next morning and sweet success! A good high school reunion/visit to Redding. Cool

Wonder WTF is up with that other generator? Electrical stuff is usually either good or it's bad... but a generator that charges sometimes??? What a pain in the ass! Rolling Eyes Laughing

This was one of my good used ones with new brushes... the one that spun right off when I polarised it.
