Will a rear view mirror from an early bus - with the long stem - fit on a later bus. My '75 Riviera was fitted with custom cabinets and I think the head knocker in the rear is deeper than typical. This makes the existing rear view mirror is all but useless. I think with a longer stem, it would be much more practical. thanks. |

IIRC the only long mirror that'll fit a later bus is the one with the plastic covered arm, it was only used for a few months of 69 so good luck finding one. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

My '71 has an splitty-style elephant ear mirror but it attaches with different arm made for a Bay Window. Never seen another like it. |
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the rear-view mirror at the top of the windshield, not the side-view ones on the doors. I can hardly ever see the horizon out the back window in the mirror, they came from the factory that way. _________________ 1971 Karmann Ghia - 1600 DP

They are out there, but you'll have to beat me to it
If you're careful, you can get a day/night switching mirror from a late bay/vanagon (not sure which) and "install" that mirror on the longer pedestal. They're a tiny bit wider (I like them) and the ball mount is the same. Plus the night function is nice for rural areas when the guy behind you forgets to turn off his brights… _________________ Learn how your vintage VW works. And why it doesn't!
