You will note there is no currency on the price. It just says "80,000". Presumably it is not US currency!
Seller is apparantly in the US service, and his/cars location listed as Kansas, sooo.... Does Kansas currently use standard US currrency?... Safe assumption that the asking price is in US dollars, right?. I doubt it's pesos, euros or pounds. Wink

There is a whole lot less olive drab and a lot more black on that 181 than there should be. Not to mention the other details, the wheels look like smoothies instead of slotted Bus wheels. And those tires are far from stock.. 20Nov1969 would make it a '70 model year, not near as rare as a true '69.

$80K is wayyy high, $8K is pretty low. She's an easy $15K car if the buyer isn't too concerned about originality. I don't plan to sell my Thing, but it's nice to know that it's value keeps going up. Cool

The value of your car only rises if cars start selling for more money every year. In my experience, people don't pay big money more often for incorrect cars than they do for correct ones.

The certificate says it came from the factory with a 1.5L engine, but he is saying it is a 1.6L and the pictures show a dual port. Not exactly original there. Wonder what he paid for it in Germany, 2500 Euros ?

since the car was manufactured in Mexico I think he mean Pesos. I would jump on the deal. That is about 25 US Dollars.

More like 6500 USD, which is probably about what it is worth if the salt on the German roads didn't damage the body and frame all that much and the mechanicals aren't a mess.

Wow, WTF? I honestly thought he had accidentally added a zero to the price so I didn't give it another thought. But now it's obvious that he's serious. And delusional.

Shocked Well...

Some details like the dash with a wrong kind of paint...
The mirrors are in the wrong position for a 1969 or 1970 model... they only get there in 1974... the switchs... I'm in the same opinion like Doc*181... late body on early chassis... Rolling Eyes

Have seen the car only today with the 30.000usd price... WOW!! Shocked

From the sideview, the position of the rear wheel in the opening(Wheel slightly foreward, not centered in the wheel opening) indicates a IRS vehicle . This should be a swing axle car with reduction boxes . This whole ad sends up more red flags than a Russian Mayday parade.

Reserve price $12,000. Let's start a betting pool on whether it will sell and if so for how much. Wink
