would that mean the deck/apron would have to be cut away by the Dealer for this bolt on piece to be installed? |

It was a company named Dura-Fibre that sold them to VWOA and offered
them for sale to DPD (a/c company) and others since the A/C units were
either installed at the port of entry or at the dealer.
Dura-fibre was a Long Beach,Calif. Corporation and now makes all types
of corrorgated plastic items. or so it say's in fine print.
Personally I never did A/C work @ the dealer and donot ever remember
installing any of them but i tore open a couple of old boxes of info and will
post it asap.
There were those customers back then that didn't want A/C but, did want
the bus.So thats when they were installed thru the bodyshop.
Kinda like buying a 1977 Porsche Targa with A/C. Why? |
Thats excellent info. Thank you for your insight.
I am more than happy to mail this to someone to have copies made for hte greater good. Its not flawless, but I think copies can be made of it. Just let me know. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

I just realized that this was to accomodate the a/c compressor not to repair the part hacked out.
I guess I'm back to finding a donor. _________________ "When my ship comes in I'll be at the airport"

Ahhh, correct you are. I thought that was a retrofit for when the AC was removed, but I see what you mean now. That makes it even more useful to me and Mrs Westfab with our AC systems still in place. Hmmm, if busdaddy doesn't replicate it, I wonder if Gerson would be interested? _________________ *****************

So Dan, what do you have in there now to support the foam seal? _________________ 1963 Ruby Red 356 Cabriolet

I have the original install instructions, and they show exactly how the area should be cut. If you cut the sheet metal, and add in the compressor, the seal actually tucks in there quite nicely. You can bolster the area with a piece of an old seal underneath as well.....bit of a silly design really. _________________ *****************

So the original install instructions don't show the plastic filler piece? _________________ 1963 Ruby Red 356 Cabriolet

Nope. That appears to be some sort of optional retro fit that could be added, but did not come with the kit. _________________ *****************
