The "should I clean my engine thread" displayed some insanely clean motors, which got me wondering who's van is the cleanest. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, who has the cleanest original or modified van? A virtual car show if you will.....
Come on, who's going first? Show us that van you wouldnt dream of camping in! |

You know, usually, the person who makes the first post goes first.
Edit: Wait. Is this a "whose van is the cleanest?", or a "whose engine is the cleanest?" thread?? _________________ ~Kamz

All three of mine are some of the dirtiest, not by choice, but because I live on a dirt road and my neighbors love to break the land speed record. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

I'll play too just because I have the pic on the iPad.
From when the engine was installed a few weeks back. I did sandblast and paint the compartment prior to install. New gasket went on too for hatch, so disregard the brown old glue around perimeter.
Since then, a new electrical junction box was installed (upper left), the air canister on other side of firewall was removed ( no more tubes at right corner) and the air box was installed correctly.
Clean enough for me.

Is that a restrictor of some kind on the coolant hose
off the water pump? Is it Bostig? _________________ Bill M

I was just looking at that. Resigned it was a support of some sort for the hose, bu a restrict or could make sense given the system being too efficient or the Zetec. Also got to thinking the air intake hose is too long for my liking. Turbo setup must shorten it, huh Bill?

No it's not Bostig! It's a coolant bleeder with sight glass and I have it attached to a hook on the engine bay wall to keep it away from the manifold. The intake hose is zip tied away for the same reason.

My engine is dirty on the outside, but runs clean on the inside. And since I've only got access to my ride one month a year, I have it detailed before I put it away. It's spotless right now. Pictures will have to wait until next June though. _________________ '85 Westy |

I thought at first it was a valve to restrict flow a bit to
help balance the system for better heat in the winter.
Only I believe that is done on the hose off the thermo
housing.
L.P. the Turbo intake routing eliminates that black hose
all together. Before the turbo install I trimmed the bulk
head metal so it was easier to push the hose more over
the tranny. I'll try and find a picture of my set up and post
it.
One thing to keep in mind when washing your Zetec with a
hose is make sure your spark plug gallies don't fill with
water. The seals on the plug don't keep water out but will
prevent them from drying out even with all the heat. _________________ Bill M

Here is mine a couple years ago. Interesting to see the changes to the Bostig setup.
Mine will be undergoing some upgrading next spring when I buy into the turbo!

Dirty engines tell a story, clean ones are yearning to get out on the road to be used. |

These aren't mine (I wish!) but I thought if we are talking clean engine installs they should be included.
