Wow, I'd be embarrassed to have my engine as clean as those pictured above. I like to drive my Vanagon, not let it sit in the garage.

Interesting that in addition to being clean... the pictured engines have something else in common.

Guess the WBXs will never win a beauty contest but they should have a good chance at being voted Miss Congeniality.

Tencents engines are real purty.

What the heck. I'll put one up (my first image post). I just got this installed in our 89. Engine runs great, but still working out an issue with the auto trans. Also need to clean up wiring, relocate oil pressure senders and top off coolant.

[Oz accent]Noise![/Oz accent]

That looks like an all aluminum Saab IC tucked away in there. I have one of those waiting on the shelf for a similar project.

You know, usually, the person who makes the first post goes first. Wink

Edit: Wait. Is this a "whose van is the cleanest?", or a "whose engine is the cleanest?" thread?? Question

I would be a strong contender for cleanest van...... Cleanest engine? Uh, not so much Smile

I'm halfway home from Black Rock Desert right now. My engine bay is a freakin' horror show.

My wasserboxer is real clean, but it was at USAL a couple weeks ago and will be in tahoe wilderness this weekend. After I clean it maybe I'll post a pic. It's not shiny at 180k miles, but it's clean.
