I need the rough dimensions for the westy poptop canvas for an early and late bay bus.
I am working with the Country Homes Campers roofs for Vanagons. I am changing the way they pop from straight up to tilt up like the westy roofs. The Vanagon Westfalia canvas will be slightly too big and I am thinking the bay tents may be a closer fit.
What I need is the lenght and width and the height when open of the tall end and short end.

Thanks for your help guys!

I just replaced my rotted canvas with screen about a month ago, and it looks good with no stretches or sags. 1978 Westfalia.

The measurements that I used were -

Poptop inside dimensions are 47 1/2" x 96 1/4".

The bottom of the material, measured using the aluminum hold-down strip outside dimensions, is longer at 98". The width is is the same, 47 1/2".

The front height is 46 1/2", and the rear is 16".

I wasn't sure why the measurements were in fractions, so I checked and re-checked and that's what I got each time. I tried converting into metric but that didn't come to whole numbers either.

The material does not hang exactly 90 degrees/perpendicular from the top, it's slanted toward the back about 10 degrees. So the back inside angle is 100 degrees and the front inside angle is 80 degrees.

Thanks LeeE! That's exactly the info I needed.

The late bay canvas will also be slightly large for my roofs. Does anyone know if the early bay canvas is smaller?

Does anyone have the measurement of the canvas on a '72 westfalia pop top?
If I was being cheap, could I fit a late bay poptop canvas on a '72.

No, a late Bay canvas is much larger than an early Bay. The hole in the roof of the Bus is bigger.

Turns out you can use a late bay canvas on an earlier pop top. You just have to be willing to cut and sew the whole thing back together. I bought a used canvas off TS cheap. There were some rips along the bottom where it was mounted. Using the one off my '73 as a pattern I was able to remove the torn material and use it for patches. A few hours and less than $100 for a usable decent looking canvas top. I don't recommend doing this though. Kind of a pain.
