I just can't decide if I will take mine off or not. I do not see too many buses with them... and part of me feels for good reason. At lest with mine I feel it takes away from the front end.

If it was mine the mirrors and driving lights would be gone. The over rides would stay.

Well Jimi, I kind of get your point. I actually like my bus better without the overriders, but having said that, I just put a set on after restoring them. They are a pretty nice accessory, and harder to find for a late Bay as they weren't re-popped. I have them because they are part of the ensemble that was available back in the day, and for that reason, I want them to complete the package. Here are mine:

Mirrors stay for now since I do not want to deal with the holes left behind. Tiny driving lights might be replace with the larger driving lights... have always liked those.... but with the over riders it would be too much.

I think they flow better on a late bay as the bumper is already "chunky" On early bays like yours I do feel they detract from the front end a bit.

Then again I do have bumper step envy Laughing

Love overriders and I would leave them. Think about it in this way. A blade only bumper would only protect you from a front end bump at the level of the blade, the overriders give you more area.

I know some take them off for a cleaner look or because the overrider has hit the body. Nevertheless, I think they look great.

Mine are funky and old - but I love 'em. I was hit in the rear 4 years ago by a modern plastic mobile and they did their job.

I'd leave the overriders, but change the paint. Smile

I like them. I have a few sets sitting on the shelf. I need to restore them and use them. Right now I'm looking for an early pair of shorty's for the back.

I have them on my '72. Never even thought of taking them off. If I had a later Bay, I agree, the bumpers are already huge.

I like them alot. With that said, I don't like it when buses have too many things on the front end. It reminds me of pre-teens that wear WAY too many bracelets and piercings and accessories. It blocks the bus's natural beauty.

Not a big fan. They look like something the TSB made VW add for North American safety standards. Having said that, I think I prefer them on an early bay rather than a late one.

I love my overriders.. I think they look better on earlies than later Bays. They're bigger and the aesthetics work better.

I'd love some extra driving lights but also don't like a cluttered front end... I'd want a wide-beam for seeing around corners...

I have them on the back bumper, but not on the front - it came that way. And maybe I got used to that but I think I like it just the way it is, yes on the back, no on the front. I want some proper driving/fog lights on the front and the overriders might make that too chunky and busy.

let me dig thru my pile of them. i took the rears off my s/c, cuz i hate them. have yet to remove the fronts, but will when i attack the nose this winter.

at any rate, if i didn't sell them make me an offer. IF i have them, they were the shortys for the s/c - d/c
