Those who have been following the SNORKELSTANG thread in the Reader's Rides forum (and who of us haven't?) are aware that at the height of Snorkeldom I began building a model of the Snork, considered by many to be the ultimate in bad/good Volksy modification.

Now that Snorkelmania has subsided somewhat and to save aficionados the trouble of having to scroll through 50-odd pages of postings, I now present the condensed version of the SNORKELSTANG build.

I started with the Revell kit. Ironically the only parts I ended up using were the body and turn signals.

At this point in the build I receive a crucial package from the Snorkelmeister himself, Big Al, containing samples of actual SNORKELSTANG DNA, including carpet and fur fragments and an oh-so-groovy T-shirt.

There's also a sample of actual 'Stang bodywork so I can ponder the paintwork.

The final product, looking Snorkelicious in front of the City of Tampa skyline. The wooden running boards were carved from
a tongue depressor.

Future details might include authentic 'Stang decals if I can get some whipped up.

When I started this thing, it was just to see if I could do it. And now, after what some might consider an incredible waste of time, I know there ain't nothin' I can't build.

That's awesome.

Can you do a reversal of the graphics for the left side so we have both right and left?

I'm not a graphic artist, but I know BoB can size and scale them up for decals.

Hi Fab4Fan,

Some really nice graphics you posted Exclamation

GreG, I can reverse or flip the graphics and also scale them.

Unfortunately, I cannot print white lines or lettering on my color laser printer.

There is a chance that Office Depot or Kinkos or ?? might be able to laser print white on some clear decal paper. Check out what might be available in Tampa.

I think I might have a roll of very thin white pinstriping tape made for models, which would leave me needing just the goofy panels for the sides and that whacked-out mural for the back.

I've hesitated about adding the graphics because the car has a certain bad assed look to it being straight purple, but for the Snorkelphiles who are urging me on, I will acquiesce to adding decals.

Then I will get back to building something less bizzare to preserve my sanity.

Instead of the clear paper you can use white and trim the excess purple film away with an exacto. trim it as close to the stripe so it wont leave too much of a border. whtever purple is left will hopefully blend with the paint. This way youll have the white stripes. something like this
