That is odd that WCM would sell junk. Will they do anything for you as for being unsatisfied with the product? I don't order windshields due to this type of issue and insane shipping costs. Nobody wants to settle on sub-par glass when doing up a nice vw. The bad glass really stands out.
There are a couple local shops around here that will do a flat windshield for a bug, cut and install for $150. I used to buy them for bugs ranging from $45-60, back in Oregon at our local vw parts supplier.
How much are you being quoted to have one cut?
Anyone local have a good used OG one? That might be a better venture. |

No I didn't !
Real tough to match the molding on the rear window on this project .
have you read the build thread ? |
Now I have, what a ambitious project! Car reminds me of the ones built for the Reich Post before, and after the war. The last one I saw was in Switzerland in a small town called Bergenstock on Lake Lucerne in 1983. I found it amazing that the post office would be still using such a old car for regular duty. Painted in bright yellow.
Any road your windshield has the deluxe molding track, that's why I posted. If I was leaving it out I would have used the standard beetle molding.
Enjoy your one off! I admire your ingenuity!! |

I'm just south of Tallahassee.
I have sent an email to WCM today and expect an answer Monday.
We'll see what they do. If this delamination wouldn't get any
worse I would just install and consider it done as what is there
won't show due to being along the edge and would be covered by the seal.
The frustrating part is that this is three now I've ordered
that are "uninspiring" with regard to quality. I have original glass everywhere else
and even though it is somewhat scratched, etc. I have every
confidence that will be here after I'm dead and gone.
The project of putting all new correct seals in (going back to
bone stock; fixing previous owners' work) has been yet another
adventure.
How was the quality of the WCM windshield you bought last week?
Any bubbles along the edges?
I got a quote of $250 from a local shop last week to come down, cut and install.
Lord, I can do it myself in 30 minutes. . .
I asked for a used windshield on the local CCvdub site and got zero response. This should be simpler . . . |

West Coast Metric is "doing me decent"!
I got a call, not just an email.
We discussed the issue and I was told they inspected all of their windshields in stock and they were all the same, junk.
I was told I would receive a full refund.
Good customer service.
Now, where oh where can I get a good windshield???? |
