Pretty sure it’s a coconut fibre used in them, also called horsehair at time’s. If I’m wrong someone can correct me. _________________ shiny paint doesnt make it worth any more |

Never new about that difference, thanks for mentioning. |

Someone in The USA leaded a big dent on the underside of the original fuel tank. The sheetmetal was very thin and needed to be replaced.
After logging off all the paint this horrible repair became visible.
Today i recieved the after picture..
I chose for repair instead of a repro tank. I don't want a fuel sender block off plate on my tank.
New left dogleg.
Bought this original spare wheel bracket to complete the Swivel seat transition.
And there's no way back! Sunroof preparation..

What a view indeed! I always feel a bit claustrophobic sitting in my bus, but yours seems so airy! _________________ My 1958 PGSG project topic |

The welder is very busy with the fitment of all the roof panels.
Next week all welding will be done. |

Big update from my welder.
The mechanism is in and fits!
All sheetmetal finally fits the original roof.
This was a real hassle and certainly not an easy job.
Fitment is far from correct.
The Soulcars.de set is very time consuming, nothing fits.
I got the Repro slider guide bars and also got a set of originals.
The holes for the bolts are on both guide bars similar.
The holes in the gutters are far off! On the right gutter only 3 bolt will fit directly and on the left gutter none fits.
But i'm certainly a lot of steps closer to the finish! |

She's done! Will pick her up tomorrow.
Also bought a trio of Belly pans this week.
When see is sandblasted and the underside is painted they will go on!
Also made spark cable holders similar as used on the early Porsche fan shrouds.
Can someone tell the difference between these three fuel plates?
111119567 Cover plate - Fuel pump
I think the right one is the oldest. |

Thanks Everett! Yes, i meant the other right. It was very early in the morning and clearly wasn't fully awake.
Got her back yesterday and finally after all those years the welding is done.
This is my million dollar view! Dreamt about this view for over a decade.

She's almost ready to get sandblasted and epoxy primer.
Picked up some 25 and 36Hp jewellery today!
Also got mail from The USA and Germany for sunroof cover samples and interior samples.

Except the sample with number 2 on it.
Thats a tent cloth sample i ordered to see if i can use it as a sunroof cover.
PGSG sunroof was originally the same color as the bus.
It's called V33.

Last sunday i pickup two 36hp engine's.
One Beetle 09-1956 and one Bus 01-1958 engine.
The empty aluminium crankcase is 11-1950 and will be used to built a 1500cc Porsche 356 pre A engine.
Last monday i bought a starting unit which came of a Fire brigade trailer.
Made a blockoff plate for the PTO tooth wheel and attached a battery box.
Here's the January 1958 bus engine with my recently powdercoated engine tin.
I believe it's not used much.
The internals look brand new and the pink Beru sparkplugs are also a detail of the fifties.
