I can identify with jmo's cat's interest in Ghias. Here's my cat Flitz at my '64 Cabrio's engine back in Nov. 2013. He was 2 YO at the time. I don't remember what I was measuring. Engine is a stock 1600 with Weber 40 IDFs and Gene Berg carb linkage.
Now to August this year. My Ghia was plagued by fuel delivery problems for a few years, which I finally started to diagnose. I had the car up on jackstands so that I could run a thin cable into the fuel line rear outlet to chase through the line and hopefully clear any obstruction (it turned out to be clear). Flitz was wandering outside, saw the Ghia up in the air. He's accustomed to seeing it on the ground and often crawling beneath it, so seeing it raised up got him curious. The exhaust is a GeneBerg 1 3/8" Ghia header that I bought about 25 years ago. I had switched to the ceramic-coated Tri-Mil hotdog muffler about 6 yrs ago for something different (photo above), but could not get used to the louder, somewhat tinny sound compared to the header.

That's one mellow kitty. My cats would be in there trying to help rebuild that carb!
They're not allowed in the garage anymore after getting grease all over their fur . _________________ Currently:

what breed of cats are these, they look like little cougars? and you could surely make a fortune with their expresions like 'grump cat' did - this one looks like 'pissed off' cat. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Today the outside/friendly-feral cats seemed interested in the Giha when I had it out in the driveway. They checked out the inside, and liked laying down in the curved areas around the headlights and tail lights. Unfortunately they left plenty of paw prints. I'm OK with that though because the car needs a wash anyway.
