Question I have a 64 panel bus. It has no inner cargo door handle on the primary door that opens to the outside. Shocked I have seen on the window bus inner door handle that is connected to a longer shaft. Is there an inner door handle that will fit or must I get a new handle, inner and outer from another vehicle? If so what years will fit? Do I have to get the hold door mechanism? I live in Killeen TX and early busses are hard to come by. Do you know why there's no cargo door handle on your panel???

Because you don't want cargo getting out unless you want it too. Laughing

Get another longer outer handle and inner from another bus. You don't need the mechanism.

I think all split window years except barndoor.

My '63 11 window standard doesn't have one either, which I find very strange. I mean, it makes sense in a panel, but this is a passenger bus.

There is an extension you can use with a short shaft exterior handle that makes it possible to attach an interior handle using a longer bolt.

Sorry to grave dig and old thread but does anyone know where to get a handle extension piece beside the one advertised here by the key maker?

20 bucks plus 3.50 shipping and handling seems like more than I need to spend.

or any DIY ideas someone has done.

If you have an extra ratty panel handle... cut the square stock off & drill a hole down the middle... uh, I think it already has the hole though... just make hole bigger.

Metric bar stock probably isn't carried by your local steel shop... but maybe. If so, measure the width of cargo handle square stock, buy piece, drill hole.

This is a photo of my 63 panel bus, it has the inner handle on it already. Iam thinking it is OG to the bus because all of the locks on the bus work with one key. Anyone have a photo of their panel with no inner handle?? The key code is marked on the square shaft that runs thru the locking part of the handle.

IIRC, the w/t panels used an outer cargo door handle that took the inner handle.

The bench seat panels used the short outer cargo door handle w/o inner handle.
It probably also is better to not have it catch on cargo.
