Definitely worth fixing. I see no rust holes in the pics. What's with the pink tire? |

That is definately worth the effort. I would even go so far to say, keep it patina'd and fix all the mechanicals. _________________ I'm at the age were "fuck off", "fuck you", and "fuck it" answer most questions. |

Absolutely! Don't paint it if you can, buff out the paint and leave the weathered look. It's novelty and cool factor/value would be much higher if you leave the exterior alone but replace that door. It looks as dry as the desert in which it was found. work the dents out, keep as much original paint as possible. VERY cool truck! Please keep us posted on your progress, outstanding find!
More pictures please.

I like it. It's weird to see the cab beat to hell and the gates looking pretty straight. |

thankfully only the wheels suffered some pink paint. Could have been another snorkelstang disaster. _________________ 1957 Beetle

to my recollection, it was used by one of the seed vendors at the huge bizarre downtown by the Cairo museum, unfortunately my mom lives in Michigan and has the photo albums from those days gone by, called and asked her about the albums....buried/lost away in her garage
the only photos I've got in my possession are of the 1946 Norton model 18 we bought in Alexandria and brought back to the states, my dad finally gave it to me since he hasn't done anything with it for 30 years, thought I might try to get it back together myself some day _________________ 65 21 window

It may just be the desert light, but that right-front wheel sure looks like a 16" to me... trading fodder for parts if so. Nice find. _________________

when did you live in Cairo ??
we lived in Alexandria 1980 & 81 my junior year of high school, crazy to think that our parents would let us take the train from Alex to Cairo by our selves, no parental guidance for weekend trips to see our girl friends that lived in Maudi ? the American section of Cairo good memories....... _________________ 65 21 window

That has to be most "bazaar" find of the year.
Who'da thunk it?
Just goes to show that aircooled VWs got everywhere and some have survived.
Resto that sucker! _________________ Cheers & God Bless

Definitely looks like a BD 16" rim. For comparison:

The pink rims is not belong for the cab, it is from other bus, we just use it cause there was a missing rim in the car and the other was flat tyres due to long time in garage _________________ Ashraf

Well find that 'pink' bus as it may be a bigger find than the SC! _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |
