I'd doubt it... as long as B-J gets their money, they probably don't care.

The yellow one sold for $6,250 another one sold for around $4,500.
They left the Manx badges on and the dash plaque. _________________ I'd rather be an hour early than 5 minutes late. (Mine)

This is not a fake Manx. It does put the phony yellow one to shame. |

This post is for the people that may have Bruce and Winnies' ear for suggestions.
Last week I received my certification from Winnie and was very pleased. I now have my first Manx body in my name. But, what I did notice is a possible chance for fraud to happen. When I set up the registration with Winnie, I also ordered the machined Aluminum badges. They are on the pricey side, but I am getting old and can't take much with me when I expire, so WTF. The Aluminum badges are sweet, very high quality and mount with allen head cap screw from the rear, so less likely to get stolen.
But, with the certification kit come the standard plastic badges, F and R. So, I only have one Manx body, what am I to do with two sets of badges? Sell them on eBay, CList, the Samba? Build another buggy and put them on it?
I am not looking for a refund, price break or to make money on the plastic badges, but I see where it could lead to badgeing a clone real easy to pass off as a Manx. I also see where the ones that pop up on eBay may come from. So, if you are one of the Board of Directors of the Manx Club reading this, you may consider a discussion with B & W Meyers on this topic to cut ways the Manx can be faked.
Edit: My spare plastic badges will get mounted on some home made plaque and hung in my garage. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Joescoolcustoms,
RE: “So, if you are one of the Board of Directors of the Manx Club reading this, you may
consider a discussion with B & W Meyers on this topic to cut ways the Manx can be faked.”
You and many others in the buggy world, seem to think that a Manx Club Director has special
access to the owners of Meyers Manx, Inc. I can assure that the Manx Club Directors enjoy do
not enjoy a special privilege, such as this. The Manx Club and Meyers are in no way connected
with each other, and with the exception of Winnie being a Club Director, there is no corporate
interaction between the two groups.
In fact you would probably have more of a chance to make a suggestion to Meyers Manx, and
have positive action taken on it. After all, you are one of their customers.
The mission of the Manx Club is "The purposes for which this corporation is formed are pleasure,
recreation, and other nonprofit purposes, including preservation and maintenance of motor
vehicles of interest and historical value, serving as an accurate source of technical information
about such vehicles, and promoting and facilitating the common enthusiasm, interests and goals of
it’s supporting members. Despite any other provision of these articles, this corporation shall not,
except to an insubstantial degree, engage in any activities or exercise powers that do not further
the purposes of this corporation. Our goal is to preserve the legacy of the Meyers Manx and the
sustainability of the Manx Club". |

With that single fact, a Director has more interaction with Winnie than I do. I know the two organizations are separate, but, there is a higher level of listening power that comes from a Director in casual conversation than from a yahoo like me.

I guess I made a wrong assumption, but I would have guessed that the Directors were, at some point, or are also a customer in addition to being a Director that is engaged in:

Is the legacy preserved better if less fakes are on the market? _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

I agree with nightmanx11. If a current or potential Meyers Manx customer does not even make the attempt to contact Bruce and/or Winnie Meyers about their thoughts concerning the fake Manx items issue, they really don't have anyone to blame but themselves. I have spoke to Winnie myself by phone a few times over these past few years (website accessory purchases, etc), and I felt like she gave me the same amount of time and attention that she would anyone else, and I don't even own a Meyers Manx body.

So he admits it's not a Meyers Manx but has left the badge glued on anyway? He'd make more from the sale by advertizing the badge seperatley... |

No, definitely not and he does say as much in the description, he describes it as a 'clone'. It's just had a Manx badge stuck on it at some time. |
