It's a tad on the rusty side. I know there are many many threads on this topic here, but here goes. This bus had a couple of sheet metal repairs done (by the previous owner) and there is more to do. Since I don't do metal work or body/paint myself, I would be hiring the work out to others and I am not sure how deep I want to get into it (nor is my very understanding wife). A little of my bus ownership history. This is, I think, my 6th SO-42. All have been 66's or 67's. I bought my first one in about 1978 and sold my last in 1995. I should have never done that because I was the second owner, it was a European delivery, and the couple who owned it before me lived in Long Beach, CA. The thing was completely original, complete (including tent, rack, and baby bed) and rust free. Oh well, such is life. So here I am with this (early) 67 wondering what to do. I plan to get the front end sorted out, find and stop the engine oil leaks (if I can) and then use it in good weather. The previous owner had the transmission and RGB's done. It runs pretty nicely. I have a garage to keep it out of the sun and snow. Any and all advice, comments, criticism, support, jokes, insults, or whatever else you can dish out will be taken under careful consideration. Below is a link to the pics.

Thanks!

Will

Your bus looks to be in better shape than mine is. Fix the rust as you go. You dont have to fix it all at once. Maybe you should define what how deep is. If you want a fully rust fixed painted bus right on the spot, well get a quote on how much to fix it. Of course theres samba people all the time that have never done bodywork before, that jump right in with the "bought a welder, have fun" You havnt told us what your goals are.

good point. my goals are to have it be stable, from a corrosion/rust standpoint, dry (no water ingress) and presentable. I do not consider this to be a candidate for show-quality restoration. I just want it to look good and function as it was designed to.
