I figured that I would make a thread for the Kombi instead of flooding the "So what did you do for your bus(es) today?" thread.

Purchased October 5th 2012

This bus actually changed hands a few times from my understanding before I picked it up and gave it a home. I am told it was pulled out of Cushing OK but made it to me by way of Joplin MO.

Here she is sitting in a yard in Oklahoma.

Tucked away in her new home with friends. The beetle was put on the back burner and moved to my brothers shop for storage. Needed some room to work.

Made some large orders for the bus. First to come in were the tires. 27x8.5r14 general grabbers. Mounted them on a set of 14s with matching patina
used the GTI to haul the tires to the tire place for mounting

next were some parts... (some parts in the order are for my 21 window too)

cut out the front floor. it was pretty roached on the sides and the drivers side rust was inching way towards the middle so I figured I would just do a whole new front floor.

replaced the lower dogleg on the passenger side. and then started welding in the front floor. I sectioned the floor at the steering so I wouldnt have to drop the steering box. A little lazy I guess but oh well. When it is done noone will know the difference

I am still waiting for my drivers side dogleg to come in so I can do the same to that side

Yeah the day before I bought this I went to the local bus meeting but in a water pumper not aircooled. I can't let that happen again lol

I love the patina too. I need to find a velvet green in a rattle can to cover my patches.

There are also logos on the front doors. It's a star...Not sure what it is for though

I love this bus.
Are you going to repair the rear guards or are you keeping it a Jersey Looker?

I have the panels to repair the rear wheel wells. I just need to find some rattle can green to blend it.

Krylon-Satin Jade is supposed to be a close match.

Order a can from Tower Paint. I bought some Dove Blue and Seagull Gray, it was a decent match. Dove Blue is a really hard color to get right.

I agree- or at least stay local. On a patina'd vehicle- I personally think any spray touchups you do should dissappear as much as possible. Let the age of the rest of things show. Krylon may stand out too much- as it will wander into the realm of "Idaho looker."
