Time for the headliner to go in. Glad I didn't try this at home.

You might want to put four ~1.5" wide x 4" long pieces of felt padding in between the gas tank straps & gas tank (at top of tank corners). Lookin' good tho... real good.

For the gas tank, I put jute padding under the tank and dynomat cut exactly to the size of the straps, between the straps and the tank. Looks to be holding nicely. |

Made some more progress. Added the breather box to the back of the motor, got the motor in the bay and buttoned up a few other items.

I was concerned about the routing of the oil lines for the remote filter, so found some info on this site about wrapping them with header wrap and built a bracket to hold the lines in place.

Alignment....help needed.
We did a toe set in the front using the spec's from a bay window. For the rear, the bus has swing axle, and it shows positive 4 degrees of camber. Two questions:
1) Is the camber that far off because the the bus has been off the round for so long? How long before it settles? How much difference will the bumper and interior make in bringing the back down a bit more?
2) The swing axle plates are slotted. Is the only adjustment in the back made for toe (allow bus to track straight)? Anything else to consider in where to lock down the bolts in the slots?

I decided to glue (lightly) the jute padding to the rear deck. I can pull it up without damage to paint, in case I need to remove it later.
As for the main floor, I just could not bring myself to gluing the padding down to the floor, so instead decided to glue the padding to the back of the rubber mat. Came out ok.
Used this stuff, worked out well.

Interior panels were next. Managed to get all of them in with the exception of the very back.

For the love of dog and all that is holy, please come up with a better solution than this.

The jail bars that came off the bus had some deep scuff marks and I had a hard time finding a new set from a reputable source (not Izz) until a wise guy from WW (Mr. Morris) suggest I make a set, so I did.
The tubing cost $65 with enough material to make all new pieces. Same diameter on the outside, but a little thicker tube so should hold up better then OE.
Used an old 8 inch Bazooka tube for the bends, almost an exact angle.
Old Piece
New Piece

Even though the motor is brand new and built by a trusted builder, all is/was not smooth.
The carbs leaked from float bowls everytime it was a hot day and after the bus was shut off. So I installed the Holley pressure regulator and gauge, along with a few other important meters.
To keep with the clean look of the engine and not obstruct it with the pressure gauge, I bent the pressure gauge bracket such that I could mount it to the left side strap bolt for the gas tank. Came out ok.

This is now fixed, with the bracket that was suggested. Hoses are clear of the exhaust pipe.
How hot does the bracket get from being mounted to the exhaust flange? Should I be concerned? I do have another level of insulation with the header wrap.
