I hope this is a first, lets see your favorite split of all time. I have a few but the black 38 is my favorite, especially all the very hard work involved in restoring it. Also the Grey Ghost that resides in Japan. For custom I would say the owner of that Blue hardtop, cant remember the owners name with fuchs on it, Buddy Hale did the paint, my other two off the top of my head at number two and three for custom would be the blue 53 in Der Kleiner Panzers on two tone fuchs, hes owned it so long. Third Pips just finished black split at the classics 2012. Lets hear it.Show some pics. Oh cant forget Bill Collins Azure blue split, hes is one of the coolest guys in the vw world.

Wiggy's Azure Blue split BEFORE it was restored. Sure it's nice now but it was such a cool unmolested car.

For stock, either Andy Spilkoman's '51 or Bill Collins' '51

For custom, hands down Randy Gates' '52

I'll "second" Bob's unrestored split convertible. I was talking with him at a show a few years back, he said everything is original on it except for the outer canvas of the top and the engine. On the bright side, the engine was replaced with a 20- barndoor 25hp case. Cool.

Can we use our own car? Love my split, it's not my daily driver but pretty close to it. Starts, stops, runs perfect. Solid driver and paint is still perfect after 7 years. Thanks KCW.

Pic I took earlier today in traffic. I got a huge, enthusiastic thumbs-up from a guy in a brand new Porsche convertible. Note the mileage on the speedo, that's actual since the restoration was completed.

You can't get much cooler than this. 1949 Belgian standard, first paint, 85,000 orig miles, orig interior, numbers matching, runs like a top.
