Got some parts for the Super today. Friend Dustin gave me the tail light housing to replace the rusty one, and I happened to come across a really cheap set of Civic seats on Facebook marketplace. The prelude seats I got earlier got ruined by my wife’s cat peeing on them. These look like they’ll fit pretty nicely.

Can you document how you mount those seats? Will they slide back & forth? They look like they sit low. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

Sure can. Preliminary plan is to weld the bottom part of the old VW seat to the new Honda seat and the way it’ll use the stock VW track and be completely reversible. Did the same thing on my wife’s Thing.

Got some more paint off of the Super today. Took the guts out of the door and sanded the rest of it too.

Orange, and most likely either the clementine it was originally or something really close to it. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

I’m using a dual action sander and I’ve been through about 90 sheets of 80 grit peal and stick paper. In some of the corners and along the edges I’ve been using a wire wheel on grinder. Once I get all the flat areas sanded I’m going to drag it out to the driveway and media blast the hard to get to areas.
That being said, I started on the passenger door.

Got some pre Super Bowl work done on the Super today.
Got the passenger door stripped. Found a small rust spot on the inside of the door which I welded shut. Took the old one of the car and fitted up the new door. Almost got all the old paint off that I can get off with a sander. Going to have to drag it out into the driveway and blast the inside of it, as well as all the corners and edges.
When I was done I started assembling my new planishing hammer and the stand I’m making for it. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Welds need some help, but that was my day. Floated some of the dents out of 3 of the 3 fenders. Welded up the crack at the bottom of the drivers rear fender. Now I need to finish shaping it. Then I decided to start on the dash. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

That fender found its memory nicely.
I like metal dash idea. Are you going too keep that super cool steering wheel? It has a fascinating shape and will make a good centerpiece. |
Yep. Bought the wheel just for the car. Had one back in the 90s on my last 71 Super. Loved it so much when I got this car I searched out a good used one. It’s a Formuling Futura. Kinda of rare being a 3 spoke. Most Formuling wheels are 4 spokes. They also haven’t made them in about 20 years. Shame, they’re very high quality. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Been too long since I posted an update. I worked on the dash a little more, and had been blasting the inner fenders. I realized it was going to take forever so I just called in the mobile blast guy. He came out today.
