Got some work done on the Super today. Almost done with the front quarter. Have the new passenger heater channel just about welded all the way in. Also ordered the front bumper bracket repair panels.

I have to admit, not all of the welding has been me. My friend Chad has done quite a bit of it on the quarter panel. Also did part of the frame head. That being said, I was fairly comfortable with a welder before this car came along. Now I'm really comfortable with one. Last night after I posted I ordered the front bumper bracket repair metal from CIP. I'm thinking that and the spare tire well are the next major hurdles. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Need to get back to working on it. I've been doing some Boxster projects for the last few months. May get back to it tomorrow. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Can't believe it's been so long since i worked on the Super. Had to fix that. It was 50 something here today, so I dug in and fixed some rust. Also started cutting and cleaning seam sealer on the driver heater channel.
Mocked up the driver fender and my new apron.

We've had unseasonably warm weather here in the mid Atlantic for the whole month of December. I finally got out to the garage. Cleaned the garage, put some new shelves in, and cut the channel out of the Super. In a T shirt. It was 75 degrees today. I love it. It's like being at home (Southern California). _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Keep it going! NOVA weather had me in a T-shirt today, too. Almost removed the front bulkhead. _________________ --

Since we're sorta cross posting...where'd you get the casters that you put on the frame head? I've been using a single furniture dolly on the front & to in the back to date. _________________ --

Got them at tractor supply. Worked on it today and cut out quite a bit of bad metal. Pics on the way. I'll take some close ups of the casters. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Cut the rest of the channel out and started working on patching the metal around the channel today.
I'll work on it some more in the morning. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Did some more welding on the area the channel goes. Still needs a lot of work.
While I was waiting on the weld through primer dry, I decided to attack these.

Any recent work? The idea to go 80s with it is awesome, any more mods in that angle? |

Actually plan on working on it this weekend. Weather has been cold. Even got snow in April last weekend. This weekend the weather is supposed to be perfect. Should have the drivers channel in by Sunday night.
I'm thinking of putting a graphic along the bottom of it like was all the rage in the 80s. _________________ My 71 Ghia Been in my family since 1980

Ok, it's been too long. Instead of working on the Bug I've been working on my wife's Thing. Pulled the engine and did a bunch of work to it.
Took me a while to be happy with it. Had to do some tweaking quite a bit to it. Thought I had it running well, went to go to a show and it didn't even make it out of the neighborhood. Had to pull the gas tank and clean and rebuild the petcock assembly.
Then I decided to build duckboards for it.
So, finally today I worked on my Super.
