Repair or replace??
What is it?
Brake fluid is coming out of it and I didn't find it in the manual
Or is there an invisible line of fluid dripping from my brake master cylinder (MC) to this mechanism?
Symptoms:
One day I try to brake and have to pump brakes to stop.
I think, is there air in the line?
so I park on a hill and pump the hell out of the brakes, not to the floor though.
The brakes never braked again.
I recently installed a new Clutch MC the failing of which (or loss of fluid) resulted in loss of brakes.

I couldn't figure out how to put the photos in this post.
Thank you! |

That isn't for your brakes, it is your heater core control valve.
Your problem is elsewhere. |

Sounds like you have two independent issues: brake problems and a leaky coolant valve. _________________ Its a mistress; an expensive, whiney, needy bitch of a mistress. okay.
Now I know where my coolant leak is! horray.
And my other problem is almost surely the brake MC.
Thanks so much |

You may have allowed air in the brake line if the reservior level got too low while replacing the clutch master.
Bleed the brakes REAL good before deciding to spring for a new brake MC... _________________ 86 White Wolfsburg Westy Weekender

I thought the clutch master took fluid from higher in the reservoir than the brakes, precisely to prevent problems with the brakes in the event of a total loss of fluid from the clutch? _________________ Adrian

^^^ Maybe so (sorry haven't dealt with mine yet), but still I'd bleed the brakes to rule out the easy answer before replacing the MC... _________________ 86 White Wolfsburg Westy Weekender
