Currently I am putting a big nut transmission in my 58 a PO used a later plastic bushed shift rod bracket up front. It has felt off the entire time I have had it.
I have heard that late bracket and early rod require spacers to work. Looking at what is currently going on if I add a spacer there will not be enough ball in the socket for the two to stay together.
Also It would appear I need more adjustment towards the drivers side to get at third and forth.i am hesitant to start enlarging adjustment holes or cutting and reindexing linkage.
So my questions are
What should I do with the shift rod bracket?
How to adjust for 3/4?

I would say find an early shift rod bracket. I have a big nut (not sure how that matters) in my '58 and retain the stock early front bracket with 'M' spring etc.
