i just realized that the deck lid to my 71 was broken! it looks like it rusted through the right side pin so only the left one is holding the lid on. im not too sure about replacing it because of the rusted pin. it's still inside the hole or lever thingy. sorry about the lousy explanation. im thinking about just taking off the entire lid and relocating my licence plate. is it safe to do so...only for fear of condensation and such on my motor being exposed. i live in southern california so cold weather isn't really a problem. but, i do live near the beach where it can be quite humid...any help would be great...thanks again...you all are really great..
cheers

That hinge is removed from the decklid. Then bolt another on. The screws are usually a pain, I would lube them 3 or 4 times before trying. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

Using a torch on the screws and waiting for them to cool down will usually break the rust free. Same answer here on the hinge replacement. |
