Is this tin top camper a CE or what? It looks like it used to be orange, and the interior is kinda different then other campers iv'e seen also. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any more pics?, from here it looks like a regular stationwagon with a Riviera interior, the M plate would be the final answer of course. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The upholstery and faux wood looks like my Riviera. _________________ If you only have one tool in your tool box, and it's a hammer, pretty soon, everything looks like it needs to be whacked!

It could be a "Country Home" camper conversion or a Riviera. County Home was an outfit in Scotts Valley, CA that made coversions and always used a tan over brown color scheme. _________________ '78 Biegephalia |

Thanks for all the replies. I am going out to look at the bus again soon so i'll get more pics, and locate the m-plate. Maybe the chrome bumpers were added on or something, but yes there is no brown dash so i guess it's no CE Still a cool camper, |

M plate is up under the dash, behind the steering column, top of numbers to front of vehicle. to read it you would have to sit with your back on the seat bottom and your knees hooked over the seat back.
hold a digital camera under there lens up, flash to front of car, and try about 30 times to get one usable image. _________________ 73 Beetle Baja, Ghia front brakes, Type 3 rear brakes, 2220 ( 94 X 80 ), Weber Progressive, Bosch SVDA, '97 Mustang seats

Or drill out the two 1/8" rivets on the LF signal after you remove the lens and peek from there, the signal fixture body likely needs a new seal anyways _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

There were 3 verisions you could have if you truly have a champagne edition.
1) 1977- CE1 buses had a beige vinyl and cordoroy interiors, chrome accents on the door panels, black plastic components (IE. NO BROWN DASH), chrome bumpers, brown under white paint job, clock and intermittent wipers. I got to fully inspect one of these just two days ago.
2) 1978- CE 2 buses had fox red (terracotta) vinyl and beige cordoroy interiors, chrome accents on the door panels, brown plastic components, chrome bumpers. Brown under fox red paintjob, usually some sort of vinyl exterior stripes, clock and intermittent wipers.
3)1878- CE westy campers had a brown themed westy interior, brown plastic components, chrome bumpers,p brown under white paintjob, no stripes usually, clock and intermittent wipers.
To me, if the bus is a 77, you might have a chance. Look for the intermittent wipers:
High
Low
Park
Intermittent
Your riviera camper kit isnt an interior that would have been assigned to a CE, but that doesnt mean someone didnt add it oater to a CE1 bus. My CE2 has had camper re-assignment surgery since I use it as a travelling home when I am on my painting adventures.
Look for chrome in the door panels, clock and intermittent wipers. That will tell you 100% if it is a CE bus or someone just liked the shiny bumpers, lol. _________________ Champagne Edition Roadtrip monster "Juakali"

Well i ended up buying the bus, and brought her home today. I guess it is a tin top riviera w/ chrome bumpers added. Then repainted dark brown. The m-code says it is a microbus 7 seater (if i typed it in right!) Here are some more pics.
The engine is still fuel injected, i'm hoping it runs (& doesn't knock!) I haven't tried anything, but turn the key. She spins over, but won't start.

Cleaned up the cab yesterday, & found only a small patch of rust.
Drained all the old dirty gas out of the tank & put on a new filter. Then i noticed the hot wire to the fuel pump wasn't connected. I put in some clean gas & gave her a test drive . It doesn't knock, sounds good, but isn't running on #1 cyl. so that's my next task.

|
|
Hi - I'm playing around with a 77 Riviera at the moment (in UK where there aren't many of 'em) and was wondering if you (or others...) have any more photos of how the tray fits to the bracket on the dashboard. Trying to see what fits onto the aluminium strip and how.
