Here's another one, Tischer:
Mike Plompen had it for sale on his website a couple months ago. But all pictures are gone. I'll contact him to see if he still has some pictures... |
I have large photos of this camper inside and out - was thinking about buying it at one time. |

Are there any Vanagon coach builders who do custom cabinets or related coach work on Vanagons? |

Mmm!!!! Very very VERY interesting!!!
And what is in your plans? Just to help modifing westfalia stuff?
Or like making a "Karmann Gipsy" with a metal frame, like one or two campers a year type of thing? |
Not likely building entire camper bodies, but to start building custom cabinetry to customer specs. Better use of space, major updates to Westy cabinetry, projects like this:

Very very nice work! The use of droors is such a better use of space than just plain shelves like the westy kitchen. You can shove so much more stuff in droors. Kinda like what did Drive Nacho Drive's vanagon.
Right now I need to finish mechanically my TDI westfalia conversion. Just waiting for the 5 speed AAP trany with a 4.14 R&P and 5th 0.77 from AA Tranaxle. Then Intercooler mods. And finishing some details mechanically. And only then I will tackle interior and body, like in a year. What happens next is up in the air...
Will I go:
A) New paint job and modify the westfalia interior, with a hightop?
B) Keep the cab area and make a "Karmann Gipsy" custom with metal frame?
C) Buy a Sprinter 4X4 available in 2015 and make an interior camper conversion. Yes a mercedes sprinter rep just told me yesterday.
These are just thoughts, nothing serious, so any ideas/discussions are welcome. Nothing crazy ok?... _________________ Pedro

This one is not a coachbuild but might interest some of you:
Built by Tisher that also made real coach-builds on T3's.
I met this german Karmann on the arctic circle a few years ago:

They are nice units! Keep on wanting to do something like that with my multivan/weekender, but sadly lack the skills. Looks like your using the standard bed too? Now will you be offering flat pack kits for uk export?

Anyone has a photo of a syncro one in action?
Isn't it sooo nice!!! The last years were all white/pastel. No orange thingny... The Karmann Gipsy has all the right moves, just the right size, the right roof line to accomodate a roof rack...

There is one in Norway that is military green, and that is the original color. I think it is -91modell and the last of the 7 Syncro 16 Gipsys. _________________ 87 75hp VW LT 28 Karmann LT L, 90 T3 Syncro 75hp AAZ Reimo Camper. 00 T4 102hp TDI Caravelle bus. |

Yup:
Pic borrowed from his build tread on the norwegian forum. It was delivered like that form the factory to some military guy, now has a 1.9td but is otherwise stock. And yes, that is the back of a 16" SiKa in front of it, he also has a 16" Caravelle in the process of becoming a westy... _________________ 1990 syncro 1.6TD "Smily"

A couple of these are interesting, but I wonder how they accelerate. The stock Westy is already challenged.
The reason I have a Westfalia and not a hightop (which is really cool) is that the Westfalia fits (barely) in the garage. All of the above would not fit in a conventional garage.
How about a Rialta? |

There is not much else I can think of. The only one I know that was not mentioned yet is the "Borco-Höhns Verkauswagen"
