I thought I would start a thread for my bug. Seeing how it will soon be painted and worked on to bring it to show worthy condition, I can post some of the progress here when the painting process begins and the final touches are made.
Here's my car. More pics to come.
Thanks for looking. Any comments/advice are welcome.

sweet man! what are your plans for it? lower it? color? |
Right now it's all about getting all of the mechanics running right. Not sure which color to paint it just yet. As of right now I'm gonna repaint it as it's original color which is a kind of sea foam green.
Yes I do plan to lower it. 2 1/2 inch drop spindles out front and maybe a little negative camber in the back. Not really radical lowering but enough to get a sweet looking ride. |

While I'm at it, here's the newest pic of the motor that I have. It will be different when it's out of the shop though, because it will have a single carb on it.
Here's the engine specs as of today.
Engine
1974 1600 case
Displacement: 1641 cc
Bore: 87mm
Stroke: 69mm
Carb: Dual Weber 34 ICT
Single port heads
Cam: unknown
Exhaust: EMPI Single Quietpack Extractor System
Ignition: 009; breaker point style
Transaxle: Freeway Flyer
Gear Ratio:
1st gear: 3.80
2nd gear: 2.06
3rd gear: 1.32
4th gear: 0.89
Ring and pinion (final drive ratio): 3.88
EDIT: I do realize that the generator is installed wrong, but this is an old pic and it's fixed now. |

I like this thing. You are lucky you have such a nice one, while OvalAZ and I have had to build a little. |
Thanks guys. I'd like to have a great looking and running car, but I know that it might not equal to many of the other members cars that I have seen on this site. But I'm gonna try.
Like I said before, I appreciate and accept any advice or tips that any of you pros can pass onto me. |

Again, sorry for the pic being sideways.

The generator is installed wrong, it needs to be rotated 90* clockwise. _________________ Glenn

Looks good..... real good now...
Showing is way overated.
Put the duster down...
Participate yes, drive it, enjoy it, create friends and memories, its worth way more than some snobby ole dust collecting trophy anyday...
I learned the hard way.... been there done that...NEVER going back either. _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

Well an Ipod picture, but correct. Words of advice, always take the time to take a pic in landscape. |

Oh I'm sorry. Maybe I didn't mention it correctly. I'm gonna repaint it so it will have a fresh paint job, but this will be a daily driver. Participate in shows, yes; being a car that stays polished in a garage, no.
I agree, A car should be built to fufill it's original purpose, to drive. |

That's ok. I appreciate the help though. I'll make sure I get a new pic with the generator being in the correct position, ok? |

Yeah its that whole "show worthy" term that just makes me cringe... I love nice cars, and can appreciate all types, stock to wild, but when owners devote their life to a car, to win a polishing trophy....... ..
The turn happend to me, showing as a daily driving (Cal Look) car, in the 80's. My car lost a few times to obvious trailer queens posing as drivers. I even caught one loading their car on a trailer down the street after the event... I called it quits, never looked back, wont go back, and have had better times since..
Advice dont get wrapped up in the whole showing thing..... It can drive you slap nuts.....  _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}
