Hi all, quick question for you
The starter motor on my 1954 pre-A looks like has passed away.
Question is, will a VW oval starter motor from the same period fit, or is it a specific Porsche item?
thanks!! _________________ 50 11A

The VW starter motor will fit, but you might have to bump up the sheet metal to clear the solenoid. Assuming it is still 6volt.

suggest replacing it with a later 4 brush 356 starter. I think they came into use around 1958. Has a higher output rating. |

I second the idea of using a four brush starter. _________________ some cars

Yes, you could bump the sheet metal up, but why? You can just swap the pertinent end casting of the starters. The old one will fit on the new one and you're back in business. |
