You need to get out more.

I'd say this was a East coast vs. West coast deal, here in the East the AC Vanagons are long gone, like most any car built up to 1983, many more WC Vanagons on the road here, I'm sure in DRY Cal. there are many more ac Vanagons and other pre-1984 cars still on the road.

This summer when I drove my '66 Singlecab to work, someone said "nice Bugtruck" WTF ?? Bugtruck ?? :fist: d'oh! Brick wall :2gunfire:

I have stopped mentioning a potential finders fee to folks if they happen to know of a hidden splitty that might be for sale.

It really ads fuel to flame in regards to being approached with..."oh hey, I just found a bus Tom".

Almost all "finds" have been bay window, even though I clearly mention beforehand..."it needs to have a post in the center of the windshield"

As someone who has wasted alot of time and gas looking at GMCs that are "just like" my '66, I don't even try anymore.

When I see someone snapping pictures out in the driveway, I don't go out to talk anymore either. People just like them, don't really want to know about them.

Call me a democrat, but I personally refer to them all as busses.

I thought "bus" was derived from the "Microbus" moniker. Ah, well. Whatever the name, they're all cool in my book.

You need to get out more.

you need to get a grip on reality. based solely on years produced there are more water cooled vanagons.
just look through the classifieds (i know, it's painful), but water cooled outweigh air cooled vanagons by a significant percentage.
you might live in some kind of air cooled vanagon shangri-la, but air cooled ones are in the vast minority overall.

i can't believe i actually am posting, arguing about the scarcity of a fucking vanagon.

Theres an easy way to fix the aircooled vanagon minority. Get Gerson to reproduce the A/C vanagon body.

I never expect anything exciting from them since I always hear my single cab called my "bug". It's even more confusing since I own a beetle too. Laughing Before I got it, I always assumed "OK, here's a vehicle no one is gonna call a 'bug'! "

This drives me insane!
I don't mind the general public calling it a van, but bug drives me nuts.
Getting some Scooby Doo comment also irrates the shit out of me.

"You need to get out more."

I get out quite a bit, dave...I think hazetguy's response will suffice

several times I've encountered people who had "a bug just like this" when referring to a split window bus Very Happy
