I had a couple of times where I'd turn the key and get nothing. If I went under the VW and wacked the solenoid it would start right up. Last weekend it got more frequent. So I got a new starte and solenoid. I probably could have fixed just the solenoid but it was only $70 and I got this crazy thing where I like my car to start every time. Go figure.
Anyway, I put it in last night. Tried to start it up and the VW is now running like sh%*. It would crank no problem but it would not fire. When I finally got it started it was running really rough and blowing smoke. I had to keep revving it to have it run. Frustrated at about 10pm I gave up.
The only advice I've gotten is that it is probably an electrical problem and to double check all my connections. The other is to double check that the starter and solenoid are the right model. So it looks like I'm back at it tonight.
Does anyone have any good ideas? |

What else did you touch?
If you did not touch ANYTHING but the starter, than the only guess I have is that the problems are not related. You do realize the starting circuit is just that, ONLY. It cannot, in any way, make your car run like crap, smoke, and need the throttle to keep the motor alive. _________________ OG JHC
