The First? Only? rear set arrived in NZ today... got home late, so not going to be fitted tonight Mad

I did give them a quick test fit though Cool I thought they's make the offset on my rear wheels look too high, but they don't add too much width.

The fabric on my slider panel touches the arch, because it's not blued to the hardboard backing - it'll still work with the flares though Cool

Super happy with postal flares. Flares over new paint (flash with a touch of green pearl). Wife has named her Iris.

Iris would be an 87 cali van. I picked up an arb fridge and had the vent removed while being prepped for paint. I wouldn't have had her painted except I had a bit of a fender bender in MX. I had also noticed a bit of h2o getting through a seal during a down pour. The picture doesn't do the paint justice but shows the flares well.

Here's Paul's Westy, I haven't tried this, but he mounted his flares to the fender, He says they fit great like this. Looks great Paul!

what ?! mounted the front arch piece to the fender and not the door !?

why ever do that ? I mean, they really do keep your pants dry on ingress/egress on rainy days. that function is real and of some value.

without that...they are just lipstick.

Is it just me or do the rear flares look a bit too thin? Maybe its just the pictures, but it almost seems like they should be a little taller to match the fronts better. Maybe if they fit into the seam that follows the rear wheel well rather than leaving that seam exposed??

These look taller to me, I'm not sure they're in the seam but they certainly look closer. I assume they are OE 16" flares:

We dont really get much rain. The van is used for surfing and camping, both take place in nice weather mostly.
I bought the flares for my wife's van because 1) they look cool as hell, and 2) they offer protection for the fender arches/door jamb as my kids load in and out for school.

Yes, they mount perfectly right to the front arch and the rubber seal closes against it with a nice solid "thud" like a new car. For whatever reason, the fotos of the flares dont really capture the overall addition they contribute to the van.

This is a super nice product and if there was a VW part number on them, you wouldnt know they didnt come from Germany. The fit and finish is just perfect.

Wolfram gray gets some fender flares today!

I ended up trimming the rear fiberglass bumper to fit the contour of the flares and it came out real nice and it was easy to do. Installing the flares were a breeze with the drill bit screws they provide. These things are top notch!

That is a great idea! Did you take down the bumper for the trimming? What tools did you use? I think I will do the same.

Bumpers look great too. Re-painted?

Yeah I removed the bumper and made a simple cut with a hack saw and filed the edge smooth. Then I gave it a matte black finish with plasti dip.

Thanks for the info.

Perfect timing since I was pulling my bumper to re-paint. I rather trim the bumper than the flares. The reason for this is that I'm more likely to replace the bumpers down the road with aftermarket units that don't come up to the flares so if I cut the flares to fit the fiberglass bumpers and then replace the bumpers it would not look good.

I've been holding off on ordering flares because I don't want to lose my mudflaps. I have the SA flaps. There was mention of terrawagon mudflaps a few pages back. Is that something I could expect soon? Will they attach to the current flares or will there be a different flare to go with the flap?

I'd really like to put these flares in my van but I don't want to buy them now and have to get a different set later when the flaps are available.
