I'm curious what the rarest Bus that any of you have ever personally seen in real life is. No BS, no homemade stuff, no stuff you've seen in literature, but what is the wildest/rarest/most unique FACTORY optioned and assembled Bus you have ever laid eyes on in person? _________________ Please check us out on Instagram at @holygrailgarage

I saw a 58 double door deluxe sunroof bus which was really cool, rare and desirable, but I would have to say that it is the second rarest.
the rarest I would have to say is the 1960 double door sunroof standard microbus in sealingwax red and beige grey with original to the bus ambulance fans, grab handle and clock. the last three options were dealer installed. that is about the rarest bus I have seen. there are only two 59-61 standard buses known to exist that were not mango green and seagull grey. so not only does that bus have the super cool options, it is also a special color.

the flipseat buses were so 34 (and maybe 35?), not so 23
my also being on the east coast has severely limited my "rare bus" exposure. probably just your everyday barndoor deluxe wins for me. _________________ drive it. break it. fix it. repeat. |

The original VW factory built U S delivered school bus that now resides back in Europe. If I am not mistaken it only had 17000 miles and still had all the school bus signs and lights, even a handle that open both cargo doors at once to let the kiddies in! YOU can own it for only 30K _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

If coachbuilt busses qualify for the consideration, I'll have to say the coachbuilt samba parked in the BFY showroom is it. It's the one w/ an extra tall driving cab.
(My experience is limited.. never gone abroad to see the other rare beauties.)

Rick Clark's Barndoor Double Door RHD Panel. He told me that it's the only one known to still exist. _________________ '74 Westy |

maybe a 1950 sunroof bus. there are a whole bunch that are about equal because they are the earliest of three known or the only one known. i saw that mobile shop based on and so-13 recently. that's a cool bus
hey, what about this one? the owner says it's possibly the only US spec ambulance ever ordered!!!

Thats a hard one, Tonny Larsons 50 is there for me, my favourite buses in the Uk that are rare are a non barndoor march 55 single cab and Steve Carringtons 56 westy. Sorry dont have a pic of the single.
And of course my own two buses.

princeton university owned an ambulance. a friend of mine was the 3rd owner after them. it's in st louis now and still has less than 20K miles on it. maybe they need some parts off this 58. the current owner apparently has no problem parting out such a vehicle.
my friend that owned the princeton u. ambulance still owns an '60 ambulance that was converted to a camper by the indiana camper company. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle
