I wasn't going to start a thread on here till I actually got some things done but its 10 on a Friday night and I have nothing else to do.
Im only 19 and do not know much so give me a little slack in that aspect. Ill learn though. Thats what the car was bought for.

This thread was originally on Stance|Works so I'm just going to copy it over.

Made a deal on a 77' Type 1 with an older motor.

heres the thread on thesamba from when the last owner just got it:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=518445&highlight=

Thought it was cool that I found the thread after I had bought it.
Picking it up tomorrow.
Work will be done.
These will suffice till tomorrow.

At the previous owners:

Valves need adjusting which will happen next weekend. Wiring will all be fixed and done with pretty soon also. Hopefully. Shes on a budget right now. Little things will be fixed and everything will be ultimately cleaned.

UPDATE:

Could possibly be selling the beetle.
I found an older model in the color I wanted to painted this one with everything working and better pans and everything basically. For about half the price I paid for this one. So thats that. plus i screwed my finger on a lathe today so no updates on the yellow for a while.

take a look.

top pick is my whole fingernail

Done. haha. That leads us up to last wednesday. Nothing new done to the Rosslyn other than just capping off some hot wires that were loose. Still waiting to get fixing on that.

Hope you guys enjoy.

What's up with that car? It looks real nice, but the PO bought it in June and sold it and now you might sell it?

Not sure why the previous owners sold it. My reasoning of why I might is because I found another for half the price thats older, more solid, and has everything still in tact (i.e. heater tubes and good channels)

Mechanically, I don't see why they would've sold it so fast. Everything wrong with the car has basically been diagnosed. The engine runs ok, tranny shifts fine, and although theres not much rust, its still there.

The engine will need to be rebuilt though if were going to keep using it. Maybe they just didn't have the time after they bought it and realized it.

Its a 1971 Standard (so the owner says) and it doesnt look as pretty but everything is there. Only has handbrake because the brake lines rusted through so when you pump the brakes, brake fluid comes out in the floor. The only bad rust spot is under the spare tire.

Only thing is when that I got over there, after her saying everything worked, the engine wouldn't turn over. It wasn't locked up though. One of my dads friends who worked at a VW dealer as a mechanic back when these things were just coming out (1970's models) is going to help diagnose the problem and if its too much trouble to get it going, Im just going to forget about it.

I'm not sure why you would switch. The 77 looks awesome. Definitely go with the one you want, but I'd be happy with what you already have.
