|
|
Foxmon was over here yesterday looking for the "hinge" or pivot pin for the rear drivers side vent window on his 78 westy. It allows the vent window to open and close.
I am not sure what it is supposed to look like but it looked to be about 8mm and about 25mm long with some sort of a "flat screwdriver bit" type of connection to the window. Mine and his were so rusty that there was not much left of it.
What is it called, anyone know the part number or got a good one?
Thanks!

I believe that pin is part of the frame and when it's gone/rotten you need to find a new vent window from the classifieds or wrecking yard _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"

X2, bad news unless you can remove the glass from the frame and weld the pin back in, it was originally riveted (end mashed over) into the frame but twists out when the lower pivot siezes. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Cool. I knew one of you guys would know.
I will let him search for one. It will be good for him.
I replaced my window back there with a non-vented one, so that is why I had one sort of laying around but in tough shape. |

Some of the least corroded bits on my bus (that's Randy's pivot pin on the right!) but the tenon is cleanly sheered off in the window frame

With the non-attached pin there is a solution that does work and did on mine. And since I only use that vent open when not driving, the tension resistance amount wasn't a concern.
The pin was shot so I made a new one. And the pin is sized for a nice clearance fit into the hole in the frame. And the pin is locked tight in the clamp. S o the end result is the vent frame rotates on a fixed pin. _________________ 71 Superbug

So you made a round tenon on your pin so to speak and drilled a round hole in the window frame?
Thanks |

With the original pin removed it already left a hole in the frame. Don't remember but I might have cleaned up the hole a bit with a drill. But never did take the glass out of the frame. _________________ 71 Superbug
