congrats.
I used to drive my 12/59 beetle on it's birthday every year. more often than not, on snow in the black forest just to celebrate. _________________ regards

Interesting, and what a co-ink-a-dink! I was just telling my co-worker that my Single Cab is 50 years old today, and I see this post! Very cool. I've only had mine for 15 years, but I can't even take old Heinz out for a drive today because he's not running at the moment.
Very cool that you've had your bus this long, Bob. Many years and miles to go... |

Do we have a record here? Certainly seems so, other than museums. _________________ the other Joe |

Thanks for all your kind thoughts,,, My bus can never be sold,, only given away to someone that will care and cherish it as much as I have/do..I want it to have a very long life with someone who will carry on the tradition over and over,, again and again... My son (40 yrs.old) will be the first on my list,, and he knows that my wishes must be carried-out, for a very long time..I bought it when I was 20 yrs. old, ($1,100). I am now 63,, and still going strong.. Thanks for all your comments.. Bob King,63 EZ,, Long Beach Ca... |

Way to go Bob (and the Bus too!). I'm not even close, I bought my '67 SO-42 in 1984, so I've only owed her for 28 years! 44 is incredible! Congratulations, and may you both be together for many, many more years!

Todays is the 50th Birthday of my 63 Single Cab It left the assembly line on November 30, 1962.
Dad bought it on July 1, 1963. That was the day I drove it home from the dealership.

Great story Ken,,,,, I hope more VW Busses get passed along to the next generation. The Bus that is passed down, will have so much of the previous owners life and karma , and when it is driven, the new owner will feel and experience, the same feelings as the original owner....( PRICELESS).. Great job Ken!!! Thanks , Bob King ,63 EZ, Long Beach , Ca... |
