I got the "good" quality distributor in. I had the replace everything on it to get it going. It turned out to be the condenser so I've been switching back to all the original parts. I'm planning on taking the exhaust off to see if the heat risers are plugged next. The car still isn't running quite right. It seems to take a while to warm up then it runs good. The exhaust is one of the next things on my list to check. Yesterday I adjusted the valves to rule out a need for a valve adjustment. It seemed good this morning after running on the highway for a few miles plus I clamped the air flap shut on the air filter to only get warm air from the exhaust. I don't recall if I ever checked the heat risers Smile we Wil see.

Plugged heat riser symptom on my '69 Bug was acceleration hesitation when the car was fully warmed-up.

Hope you are able to get it fully dialed-in, Brent! Keep at it!

So I decided to yank the engine. Once I got the exhaust out it didn't really look like the heat risers were plugged and the intake boots looked cracked so I figured it would be better to take the intake manifold out to see what I can do to fix it.

After four months off the road I finally got to do a little test driving ol A Bomb. Still something going on . It seems like a points issue but ounce the car is warmed up it 95 percent gone. I put the engine back in about a month ago and couldn’t get it to start. The problem? That POS Chinese distributor. I had to replace the cap rotor points and condenser to get it to work originally and something went bad again.
I picked up an NOS Mexican recently. I've been using the Mexican Bosch from Herbie to get going again. Now I can just through the Chinese dizzy away and try something new with the points eliminator I got with the distributor.

I finally got around to adding the bumper reinforcement bars. well three anyhow. I still need to open the hole on the rear fender for the other one and ran out of time before work yesterday. The rear fenders that came with this car are actually 68 and up replacments that i modified to work.

Some shots from various stages the engine went through. I cleaned up the generator and intake manifold when it was out this time around.

Here are a few photos from today's trip to Westbrook Town Beach for the CVA's Last hurrah. Really glad I was able to make it even though A Bomb isn't 100 percent but got there and back without any issues other than a slight bit of cutting out.

I'm not gunna guarantee the problem was the carburetor but once I took it out I noticed fuel leaking from the accelerator pump and a lot of corrosion inside. I found a usa-made carburetor rebuild kit hopefully that will fix this problem. Also hoping for a few more decent days to road test it this late in the season.
