Post pictures of wheels and Steve will pop up!😁 that's exactly how I taped it off and pressed it into the seam with cardboard. The whole front of the wheel is painted in black first too. The backs I'm just gonna brush black.

Parts run for Herbie to get some over sized studs for the oil drain plate. One stripped out when attempting to change the oil a month ago. I have a similar problem on A Bomb too, one stud on each engine isn't locked into the case. So when I undo that one stud it becomes an oil drain 😂 but this time some of the lock tight I tried to put on it took some of the case with it.

Took advantage of the decent weather today and decided the paint is dry enough to install the hub caps. Laughing

Our first trip to Mansfield Drive In. I don't know how it happened but we were the first to arrive. We even stopped to pickup dinner on the way.

Good times and good movie, Ready Player One. On the way home though The left front drivers side drum was dragging. On initial check it looks like moisture in the brake fluid and the wheel cylinder was half seized. Brake bleeding is on the list today.

Here is a shot from the trip to the CTVWA Dust off yesterday. This is Rt 32 just the other side of Stafford CT. One of my favorite roads to cruise on. It's also the route to and from the drive in. It's very dark on the way back late at night.

Here a few more shots form last Sunday at the Connecticut Volkswagen Association’s 2018 Dust Off in Pomfret CT. If we can this is one of the few times we bring both cars to a show. It’s a nice ride mostly through the country side to get there, instead of going through Hartford. Another reason we like to take both out.

Since I haven't posted any updates in a long time I thought I would put a few new photos up.

This is in front of my local bait and tackle shop here in town, Yankee Bait and tackle . The Historic section of town.

also this building always looked like a real good place for a photo shoot . I would pass it on my way to the Connecticut river for fishing but never stopped to look at it till this photo. its down a little dead end road.

This is something I'm trying out , a new fuel pump. From CB Performance. It's got the clips to hold the pivot pin in and I kinda liked that about it. I haven't had an issue with the pin coming out but know of several others who have. The pump I was using before came with the car and it is unknown just how old it was.

Oh yeah and it is a pump for an alternator engine. I got an alternator pump and push rod with the car when I bought it so the correct push rod is in.

Tks, Mike! We are at peek but it was late and I'm guessing the Foilage will be quick.

I almost forgot the exciting part though. A couple weeks back I was coming back from work (I take it occasionall during nice weather) and I decided to take the long way home when the generator light started to glow. Since it wasn't on fully and would almost go out when at idle I figured it wasn't the belt and couldn't do much in the dark. It ran fine and no electrical issues but suspected the voltage regulator was on the way out for a long time so swapped out the regulator from Herbie and problem solved. Back in business.

Good to see you still at it with this Bug. I was reading through the thread again a few days ago.

Tks, even though it's not getting used as a daily driver anymore I try to take it out as much as possible and keep going with this thread. It has bailed us out a couple times this year when one of our more modern vehicles is down for repairs. Coil springs on the wife's car broke, it was out if commission for a week. Wheel bearings, brake rotors, pads, and calipers on my truck. It was down for 5 days. Everything becomes a project vehicle after ten years of city driving 😂

Although not as vintage but I'm working on another project vehicle, 1985 Toyota 4runner. We're going to see if it can handle a year of driving like A Bomb did.

New 12v signal/hazard flasher for A Bomb, we could have used this feature on our little trip to Lake Champlain that time! I blew the brand new 12V signal / hazard flasher that year with crappy Chinese tail light bulb holders. Them junkie things were shorted out from the start

And I still have the old thermal flasher we got with Herbie in case it goes out.
