Speaking of brakes, samba member Cusser posted this cool idea for hooking up an air compressor to make a one man brake bleeder system.

Cusser wrote : I wanted to try making a pseudo power bleeder to try. I found a cap in my garage that fit the VW MC reservoir. I drilled a 29/64" hole in the cap, because I had a tire valve stem that required a 0.432" hole. Then I pulled the valve stem through.

I filled the reservoir with new brake fluid, screwed on my cap with valve stem, set my air compressor to about 20 psi and attached it to the valve stem. Then I opened up the bleeders in sequence, filling up the reservoir as necessary to flush out all old brake fluid.
Success !
I tried this and it worked out great. This is my set up. I had an old brake fluid resivor cap and added the valve stem and a little bit of plumbing tape.

Glad to see that you got the Bug back out. |
Thanks!
Then as soon as I got home I took the fuel tank out to start replacing the fuel lines. A buddy turned me on to belmetrtic for some German cloth covered ethonal compatible fuel line. About 5 bucks for a meter plus 5 shipping but still better than 5 bucks for a foot of non ethonal compatible stuff from another place.

At first I thought "it's brick, it'll be fine."
Nope, it's seriously messed up.
Bummer, cool looking building |
Yeah I was thinking that same thing when I was happening but it probably had hard wood flooring just like a mill about the same age in the next town. The fire at that mill got so intense it melted steel beams! Sad though.
On a happier note another fun photo shoot location has been revitalized since my photos there.
We have to go back but you can't park where the photo was taken. _________________ Project 66 Daily Driver http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=538786&highlight=

How about making a cheap print of your "then" photo, taking it with you on a drive there during weekday business hours, and showing it to any security people on premises? Ask them you want to take an "after" photo at the same location with the same car, and that you'll only be on site for 5 minutes... |
