I think that is Gibraltar - GJ
What is its history? You would think if it is from there it is likely linked to a member of the armed forces
Great year for an SO42

Odd that it's a different color than the bus and riveted from the front _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Perhaps, but even the paint showing through in the (what appears to be) chipped area around 7:00 looks like a different white

Thanks chaps. The chassis no in the engine bay matches the m plate. It has the 370 factory safari option etc. I will get another look at the country f origin code. It has been repainted, originally 528 blue white over sea blue, but like you say why remove mplate to do t? _________________ 1954 Barndoor

Astute analysis will reveal if the numbers in back were grafted in. |

I don't believe M code tags are supposed to be riveted on. |

You are right roberto, but if VW had riveted the plates alot of them would still be where they should be. If they would have used the same style rivet that holds the inteior panel on the back side of a walk thru, no one could find the "correct" one to replace it. |

Thanks for,the replies, on closer n spection it is GJ - a Gibralter bus. The fact it's from Gib makes it rare in view of how small the Island is... _________________ 1954 Barndoor
