I've heard such bad things about the 15% ethenol. corrosive, rots some plastics and rubber, voids warrantys, etc. I've searched here, and it seems like some think it is ok, some not.
I used to be able to buy no ethenol fuel, but can't find it anymore. it is all 10% ethenol. I figure if 15% is bad, 10% won't be great either.
since we have to buy this, guess it is a moot point, but I'm wondering if it is really so hard on fuel lines, etc.
and if it is so bad for an older vehicle, what to do? |

the new fuel lines are designed with the ethanol in mind. I think they wreak havoc on carbs but are okay with fuel injection. _________________ 89 wolfsberg weekender carat

early FI systems have a lot of trouble with EtOH - I know little about what was used in earlier vanagons (and would like to know less) but Bosch CIS has lots of trouble - EFI has less
always use Stabil when storing & don't store until the stns near you switch to a winter gas blend, then run the tank out and fill with fresh, add Stabil and drive around a few miles, then park _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |

It will cause the fuel line to degrade. Even new line unless it is 30r9 fuel line. _________________ 1982 Westy, 1974 412 Variant... Yes, Aircooled's are great! Oh and I do have modern computer controlled vehicles too, but I just don't care about them. |
