I've not seen this thread before...
I'm confused though.

Anything other then a modified type 1 or a type 4 is no longer a VW, Those hybrids don't count. I'll be heading to Tucson the the G&M show on 2/8 via I10 south. I'll be Tucson for the week and headed back to Durango on 2/15 via I10.
Ill race you!
If you see me just roll up, I'll be waiting. We can do a 2nd gear rolling start or a stand still stop from a light. Let's see you skills.

I see what you did there.
Yes wanting the fastest bus is Suicidal Tendencies. Especially now that you got no depth perception, Red. How far away IS that corner? _________________ '71 Westy w/ a 1776 singleport, 34P3 & 205Q. Points.

Ok ... pretty funny
If your bus is the '71 in your signature then I'll take you on
My 2165cc shares te Engle 110 and CB044 heads
Extra cc's, lighter bus, 45 dellortos ... I'm in with a chance.
Anyhow, have a look at Ultimate Street Bays and you will get a picture of at least some info of what is out there.
Mine's is a daily driver, built for just that and I wouldn't for one minute consider that it is quick..
Enjoy your bus. |

Dang, I guess all of us mongrel bus owners should be lucky to show them places and still call them VW's! What about t5's, Aba's, 1.8t's... Are their any vw engine swap choices that would keep it vw enough to meet the standard or is it just a blanket purity or "racism" for lack of a better word-that we should try to achieve. Just asking because I was disallowed entrance from a show due to my engine choice and have since entertained a t5 just to go back and say "yup-all vw, now kiss my @ss!" _________________ One day as a lion, or a lifetime as lamb

See now you are stepping into "other" territory.
I personally think if its not going to be a stock theme bus then sky's the limit on what you can do - engine included. If I were rejected at a show - I would ask for a description of what their "modified or custom" class is to be. Ill bet most would not include - needs to be VW powered.
My cousin has wanted to do this to most of the VWs Ive owned over the years. Stupid fast high RPM motors for sure

^^^ that's the problem with some vw shows. When the guy planning the show is a purist, don't bother entering the show if you used a stainless bolt...
I think its awesome (swaps, that it) I have a built 2.0 16v in my rabbit truck, and boy is it fun to beat the pants off of powerstroke assholes. I am all into the wolf in sheeps clothing thing _________________

My bus averages 1.05mph over the entire year.
Several of the PO's only got it to make 0.035mph average or less.
So its now 30 times faster than average.
OK its bad statistics.
It is not fast at all. But 80mph downhill is possible.
It can now do a quarter mile in under a minute without dripping 0.1 fl oz of oil. |
