We have a regular tailgating group at the Redskins games.

I have a table I made that hangs off the back (stores under the rear cushion). And a 30"LED TV that we watch the pre-game shows and the other games while we eat and drink in preparation for the game. Very Happy Very Happy

good to see I'm not the only one who considers their vanagon a primary tailgate car. I also have a big HDTV to watch the other games on. The typical setup is shown in the pic with the BIG tent over the hatch.

I used to take it to every home Patriots game in Foxboro. I didn't make it to one this year Sad

... but there still is the playoffs Very Happy

Too bad you can't park next to me Sunday at the Georgia Dome! We'll avenge your loss!

Sweet setup! I'm really digging the table off the back, and the TV is a nice touch. Looks like a good time! Thanks for posting.

It has two wide tabs that hook into some homemade slots that are on the back edge of the bus but hidden by the hatch when closed. I can take some pics if you need them.

Where's Waldo? Our view as we exit the Redskins stadium... BTW if you go to a game look for us in the Green lot off of Arena Drive near the F52 sign. Very Happy

Went out to the Broncos-Dolphins game yesterday; it was my first time tailgating with the Vanagon at Mile High and had a blast. We learned a lot and will make a few tweaks for next time, but overall a major success. I highly recommend VIP parking if you can swing it!

We had a steady stream of people stop by and ask a million questions about the Vanagon, which always makes me happy. Very Happy

We had so much fun, my buddy is giving me another free game ticket and we're doing it again for the Bills game in two weeks. So, I have time to make a few tweaks, both to cuisine and setup.

I took cues from Dave on my setup; a bit rudimentary but that will expand. I did learn that my tired old house battery is not capable of supporting a stereo at full blast (classic hip hop to drown out the relentless country music from the Alabama dorks next to us) and a flat-screen TV, but we'll get those kinks worked out.

This is a heart breaking post...

Its my 1 year anniversary from my failed roadtrip from Halifax NS to NYC for the MIAvsNYJ game.

We made it to Conneticuit and my water pump went...had to rent car the rest of the way.

Almost made it.

Pictures would have been awesome.

This still haunts me.

Go Dolphins.

They say you improve most between games one and two. We made a few tweaks to the set-up. Instead of going out of the back hatch, we went out of the sliding door this time. We set the TV up on the weekender table, which made a huge difference for shading, and I made a big pot of jambalaya and used the camp stove. About twenty people were fed, and the beer was kept ice cold by my new fridge.

I bought a 44AH SLA battery from Batteries Plus on Saturday and got that all set up; it withstood a stereo at full-blast, the fridge, and the TV for about four hours, so fairly successful. I'd like to see how things work out with a solar panel and some more amp hours, but that'll wait until I move all of the batteries under the rear seat as a winter project.

More importantly, my guests had so much fun that I secured a game ticket to the final home game and one of the playoff games.

Brilliant, dear fellow! And the Miami game was a good one!

I wrote up how we used Winston when my former girlfriend got a catering gig. He was superb in his role as an auxiliary kitchen and transporter of food and utensils!

Best!

Easy win for you, when you are playing a team that forgets you are supposed to run once in a while.

I'd also like to throw in a strong recommendation based upon real-world product testing.

These floormats are fantastic.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_484_128/german-vanagon-rubber-floor-mats.html

Not only is it a thing of beauty to have perfectly-formed mats in the front foot wells that were actually made to go there, but when one of my passengers dropped a pretty full 12 oz. beverage can on the passenger side mat, the little squares contained the entire mess without any spillage on the carpet. Highly recommended.
