more info here: http://www.solyndra.com/technology-products/cylindrical-module/
These are not good for mobile applications because they are basically glass tubes. They would break in no time. Also, $2.50/watt seems expensive, no? _________________ 82 Diesel Westy

Has solar come down that much? I remember not that long ago when I bought some panels 2.50 was a steal. _________________ 89 wolfsberg weekender carat

110 volts, 40 mA shorted current. (at "full sun")
you can buy ten for $7.50 each.
You will need some electronics to get the voltage right for a battery charger application.
You will need to rig some mounting system.
I dont know what they wiegh, but they are a meter long and near an inch in diameter and filled with a silicone fluid. They likely are not light.
since they are glass, breakage may be an issue in a mobile applicaton. you may have to consider shock mounts, and a protective cover.
Seems like it might be a bit of work to do it.
If you do it, you should probably buy some spares while you still can. when there gone there gone. |

I might have to ask my brother or father to get me some of those to use on my garage if the Rohnert Park store has any in stock. |

wonder how to run this so it will go from 110v to 12v. Will a MMPT charger can convert that high of a voltage? _________________ 1980 2.8LV6 Fiero ASI/Riviera Vanagon

I would use the tubes in a residential setting, but not for a mobile situation.
Too fragile and other, better suited PVs are not that much more cost when you will be all said and done. |
