|
|
I have heard many car guys at various shows tell stories about how many miles they have put on their VW's over the years. For some of them, the amount of miles that they have put on their cars is just insane. Like, say a couple hundred thousand miles.
So, what's the greatest amount of miles that you put on a VW?

My odometer reads the classics mostly. I have a refined and cultured VW. _________________ Mike

This was 2008.... it has 20,000 more miles.
Oh... add a 4 to the left. Beetles don't have a 100,000 mile digit.
It was my daily drive for 25 years. _________________ Glenn

I had 350K on my '65 Bug before I parked it. Long sold, I wonder if it was broken up for parts or still driven? I dont live in that town anymore. I had it dialed in mechanically, so it could do another 350K barring an accident. Needed paint badly, but no significant rust problems. I hope he (that one was a he) is still kicking.
I used to drive 75 miles roundtrip to work, so I racked up 25K per year for over two decades. Calve adjustments and oil changed were nearly monthly.
My '71 Type is now at about 225K, though it's not a daily drive now. Several rebuilds but still numbers matching (except front axle). She's a real lady.
But now I drive 10 miles to/from work so (hopefully) I'll never rack up that kind of mileage anymore. It's in a Prius which has 140K miles-- probably female or possible a metrosexual, not masculine at all.

Over a 1/4 million miles driving ACVW's on the streets. About 513.25 miles racing down the drag strip. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

When I bought my convertible in 1983 it had 52000 on the odometer. It all looked original so we think that was correct. When I tore it down for the restoration I had 99,400, and I watched the odometer flip to all zeros twice while I was driving it. So ... best guess is my car has 299,400 miles on it. _________________ Brian

Just turned over the odo in the Bug, 60k + miles since I got it. The Dormy is less than 7k short of turning over too. It'll be the 3rd time turning that one over though the first 2 times were on a different bus. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Mine reads around 17k. I'm sure that's easily 117k. Don't know for sure as I don't have proof. The car appears to have sat for many many years. I doubt it is any more the 217k from the appearance of the car. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle l 1981 Trans Am |

I cannot believe some of you still read the numbers on the odometer.
I only care about if the needle works.
What does the mileage mean anyway. When it is time to rebuild the engine, I rebuild the engine. Same goes for the trans. |

Mileage means a lot, I have a Bug and a Motorcycle without fuel gauges. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

No guessing with a trip odometer. It reads to six digits. I wonder why VW didn't make all odometers read this way?
